More pictures from the National Monuments Tour

Here we are at the base of Devils Tower. It was very amazing to see. I have lived in Wyoming most of my life and had never seen it. There were a couple of people climbing. There's no way you would get me up there!

We toured Jewel Cave, the 2nd largest cave in the country. The 1st is Mammoth Cave in Kentucky. This was so much fun. We were 70 stories below ground at one point. The temperature was 49 degrees and 98% humidity.

With more than 135 miles surveyed, Jewel Cave is recognized as the second longest cave in the world. Airflow within its passages indicates a vast area yet to be explored. Cave tours provide opportunities for viewing this pristine cave system and its wide variety of speleothems including stalactites, stalagmites, draperies, frostwork, flowstone, boxwork and hydromagnesite balloons. The cave is an important hibernaculum for several species of bats. (from the Jewel Cave website: http://www.nps.gov/jeca/)

It was great to get to know these students on a much more personable level. Even though I'm still recovering from being exhausted it was a blast.
